The Varsano Family of Culver City celebrates Rosh Hashanah 2025/5786. The Varsano family and guests share a festive Erev Rosh Hashanah meal of round challah, apple slices dipped in honey, dates stuffed with marzipan, pomegranate arils, and pumpkin empanadas to start the dinner. The main course consisted of fritas de prasa (leek patties), cous cous con siete lugumbres (7 vegetable cous cous with beef), baked swordfish with golden saffron sauce, sautéed kale and bok choy, and mixed green salad. Dessert consisted of fruit salad and chocolate cakes.

On Rosh Hashanah, the pomegranate symbolizes the hope for a year filled with abundance, fertility, and blessings, represented by its numerous seeds.
