Jon’s French Toast Recipe

Ingredients
- 1 Loaf of Challah or Brioche Bread – Sliced Thick
- 6 Large Eggs
- ½ Cup of Whole Milk or Half and Half
- 6 tsp of Plain Yogurt
- 1 tsp of Vanilla Extract
- 2 Dashes of Cinnamon Powder
- 4 Tbsp of Vegetable Oil or Butter for cooking
- 2 tsp of Powdered Sugar
- 2 Tbsp of Butter for serving
- Real Maple Syrup as needed

Directions
- Heat griddle or large skillet on medium heat. In a large mixing bowl, add eggs, milk, yogurt, vanilla, and cinnamon. Beat with whisk until blended smoothly.
- Add 1 tablespoon of oil or butter to hot griddle or skillet. Dip bread in batter and let soak until completely covered. Let excess batter drip off and cook on griddle or skillet until golden brown on each side. Add more oil as necessary.
- Remove from heat and place on serving platter. Wait until toast cools slightly, then sprinkle with powdered sugar. Serve hot with butter and maple syrup. You may also use other flavored syrups or fresh berries. For more traditional Sephardic flavors, top with honey, walnuts, and/or pistachios. For a more savory breakfast, omit the powdered sugar and syrup, and serve with eggs (any style). tomatoes (sliced fresh or sauce), and top with a dollop of yogurt.
